RPL
Recognizing Prior Learning is a system used to identify and document skills, knowledge and gifts gained through formal and informal learning.
Learning takes place in many ways: through school, work, community involvement, personal interests, hobbies and life experiences.
You can use RPL in many workplace and educational settings. It can open doors to employment or career advancement and also help you to get credit towards a degree, certificate or diploma.
It provides a better means of understanding individuals, and begins to identify appropriate training, education and employment goals by building from a person’s strengths.
RPLwill help you:
- Become aware of your own prior learning
- Identify and assess your skills, knowledge and gifts
- Provide proof of learning for an employer, employment counselor or educator
- Organize this information in a way that helps with your goals
- Clarify training and employment goals
- Document your skills for employment or promotion
- Gain formal education credits
